All Cedar Rapids Community School District students are issued a Chromebook at the beginning of the school year. The Chromebooks are equipped with an 11-inch touchscreen display, 360-degree hinge, two cameras, and protective case.
CRCSD is also partnering with Project 10 Million by T-Mobile, a national effort to provide free hotspot devices to students. These hotspots provide free wireless connectivity to students. Contact your student’s building to see if your child is eligible.
Students must complete a student device acknowledgement form, student Google account acknowledgement form (middle and high school only), and student device agreement form before being issued a device. These forms can be found below.

Securly (web filtering)
CRCSD uses Securly content filtering to block access to inappropriate websites and material on CRCSD-owned devices. The filtering in place is used to abide by CIPA requirements for schools along with other CRCSD choices to help with the education process for your student.
As part of CRCSD’s commitment to your student’s safety, you can install the Securly Home app on your smartphone. The app allows parents to view their students’ internet history while using CRCSD devices as well as receive weekly emails on your student. We do not manually put parent/student information into Securly. Instead, we run an automated process that gathers the required information from within Infinite Campus. In order to use the Securly app on your smartphone, you must ensure your contact email (that you want to receive Securly reports on) is correct inside Infinite Campus. Please note your email can not be your student’s school email address. Every week an upload to Securly occurs and if you haven’t already setup an account with them you will receive an email directly from Securly with instructions on how to setup/login/use the Securly Home app.
