Iowa 4-H Career Pathways Academy is a new program that engages youth in research-based educational opportunities that promote skill development in preparation for higher educational pursuits and careers. This program is an opportunity both for youth who have not previously experienced 4-H or have experience as a 4-H club member in their community.
4-H Career Pathways Academy focuses on building skills to equip youth for careers in high demand fields of study including entrepreneurship, healthcare, education, manufacturing, skilled trades, and STEAM. This program provides hands-on workforce development training to build leadership, innovative thinking, and entrepreneurial skills while connecting youth to externship opportunities in their local communities.
The 4-H Career Pathways Academy will kick off June 28-June 30 on the Iowa State University Campus in Ames. Youth participants will continue their Academy experience by meeting in cohorts for the following 12 months for hands-on learning opportunities, skill development, career exploration, and externships. 4-H Career Pathways Academy participants are eligible to receive a scholarship to support their post-high school education endeavor, are eligible for academic credit at Iowa State University for participating and gain a network of industry professionals as mentors and potential future employers.
