On Monday March 27th board meeting, the Board of Education approved the appointment of Dr. Tawana Grover as the Interim Superintendent of the Cedar Rapids Community School District effective April 3, 2023.
“The Board is excited to have Dr. Grover assume the interim role until her contract begins on July 1st. There are big decisions that need to be made and Dr. Grover was available earlier than originally planned. I want to thank Art Sathoff for serving as interim when we needed him the most. He served with grace and his leadership guided us through this transition.” – David Tominsky, Board President
“Thank you for the opportunity to serve the district during a challenging time of transition. My five months here have given me an opportunity to see the many great things happening for students in the district as well as the challenges that are inherent in public education and large organizations. I really appreciate the many quality people I have had interactions with and the hard work they are doing on behalf of students.” Art Sathoff, Interim Superintendent
“As your next Superintendent, I am eager to use these next few months to extend my listening tour to meet and learn from staff, students, community members and business leaders. This provides valuable time to transition into the role to better understand the most immediate needs and lead CRCSD long into the successful future so Every Learner is Future Ready.” – Dr. Tawana Grover.
Art Sathoff’s last day at CRCSD will be Friday, March 31st. Dr. Tawana Grover will serve as interim effective Monday, April 3rd and begin her role as Superintendent effective July 1st, 2023.
