We are excited to announce the Cedar Rapids Community School District will be partnering with Champions beginning this summer for additional summer school programming options. In addition, beginning in the fall of 2022, we will be partnering with Champions for before and after school extended learning programs. They will be housed at all of our elementary and middle school buildings across the district including wrap around services at Truman Early Childhood Center. Students and families will be provided with equitable, accessible, and affordable options for care consistent throughout the district. These expanded opportunities will mean all families and students can get the services they need in the locations their child attends school.

With more than 25 years of experience, Champions is recognized for their leadership in delivering extended learning programs tailored specifically to a school’s needs. They will also provide parents with a safe, convenient program where their child’s potential is fostered through engaging learning experiences.

Champions will become our district supported program for before and after school care/extended learning. We will continue with many of our current partnerships to provide extended opportunities for our students. One change will be the Five Seasons Learning Center program will no longer be a separate program. Staff who currently work for the district as Five Seasons employees will have the opportunity to be hired in other positions which support students and families within our district.

In the near future, Champions will begin the process of hiring individuals from in and around the Cedar Rapids area to support our students and families.

If families need financial assistance, Champions will work with the family to apply for care subsidies through the state and county. Champions will provide a scholarship opportunity for one student for every 10 in attendance. Champions will work with principals of each building to determine which families should receive the scholarship based on established criteria.
