| Jane Boyd Achievement Academy | Jane Boyd Achievement Academy will ensure the academic, emotional, and social well-being of students in our diverse community by providing out-of-school academic enrichment and childcare services to underserved school-aged children ages 5-11 to improve social-emotional learning and improve social connectedness in their community, which will lead to improved conditions for learning in the following areas: school attendance and grade-level proficiencies. |
| Kids on Course (KOC) | The KOC program will increase reading proficiency by providing twice weekly tutoring (Learning Lab) throughout the school year. Learning Lab will be delivered in small groups with highly trained tutors or certified teachers to improve FAST scores in 80% of the student participants. Long-term, our program will lead to improved conditions in learning and proficiency levels and prepare students for the transition to middle school. |
| Five Seasons | Five Seasons follows SACERS (school-age care environment rating scale guidelines. Designed to assess group-care programs for children of school age 5 to 12, the scale consists of 49 items, including six supplementary items for programs enrolling children with disabilities. Items are organized into seven subscales: space and furnishings, health and safety, activities-materials, interactions, program structure, staff development, and special needs. Activities are: arts and crafts, music and movement, blocks and construction, drama/theater, language and reading, math and reasoning, science and nature, cultural awareness. |
| KidsPoint | KidsPoint, Waypoint child care programs, are dedicated to providing a high quality, nurturing environment where children are encouraged to reach their fullest potential in all areas of development. |
| African American Awareness Program (AAAP) | AAAP is a middle school-based achievement program for students who identify as Black, Brown or biracial and who have leadership potential. This program is designed to give students the tools they need to succeed both academically and socially, by strengthening their self-regard and cultural identity, and by developing and enhancing skills. Students learn about post-secondary education and are challenged to seek out academic leadership opportunities. They are also exposed to influential Black, Brown and biracial leaders within our community, whose stories can serve as inspiration. |
| GEAR UP 3.0 | GEAR UP 3.0 is a grant-based program specific to students in the class of 2027. The program is designed to prepare students for postsecondary options and support their progress along the way. Academic support in the form of after-school tutoring is provided to current 7th grade students. |
| Accelerated Learning | Wilson Middle School is piloting a program for every student during the school day. The program will expand the utilization of iREADY for both math and language arts and is aligned with Cedar Rapids Community School District’s belief in a personalized pathway for every student. |
| Empowering Youths of Iowa (EYI) | A plan is developed based on the youth’s preference for either: 1) High school graduation, or 2) High school equivalency (In this case, EYI partners with Kirkwood to prep youth for HiSET tests). Examples of ways EYI improves academic success: Developing a growth mindset, improving study habits, providing homework help, guiding in college search, college visits, etc. |
| College and Career Transition Coordinator | The College and Career Transition Coordinator is responsible for providing direct services to students, parents/families, and school staff to support school retention, college and career preparation, and postsecondary success. |
| District Scholarship Support | This person works with students and families to help access scholarship opportunities for post-secondary programs. They can get support in the post-secondary application process and receive help navigating the scholarship process. This position also monitors and updates the District scholarship webpage. |
