Cedar Rapids Community School District has launched new, user-friendly websites for families with the goal of helping you easily find the information you need.
We are eager to deliver on our promise of Every Learner. Future Ready. and we are working hard to evolve our teaching practices, our workforce, and our facilities to most effectively meet the needs of our 21st century learners.
CRCSD enriches the community and embraces all backgrounds and cultures. We share a learning environment that welcomes everyone, as we prepare all students with pathways and passions for the future.
We’re constantly building an environment and community where our students, staff, and stakeholders can succeed. Take a glimpse at our programs and initiatives.
Cedar Rapids Community School District is home to five magnet schools—three elementaries and two middle schools—which focus on sustainability, STEAM, leadership, and business.
The gifted education and PACT program enhances and supports the educational experience of high ability students to prepare them to become world class learners and responsible citizens.
Career and technical education provides quality programming aligned with workforce needs, developed in partnership with local companies. It engages students in the application of other academic content to help prepare them for the future.
Iowa BIG celebrates the unique partnership between school districts and area businesses, and is an opportunity for high school students to expand their learning outside the traditional classroom for part of the school day.
We are committed to implementing sustainable practices to protect our environment and reduce our carbon footprint through facility and grounds improvements, development planning, technology updates, and school green teams.
The future-ready facility master plan is an effort driven by community and CRCSD collaboration, along with an immense amount of data and analysis. Over the next 15-20 years, CRCSD will build 10 new elementary schools and renovate three others.

Let us BOOST your home lunch, with a free ‘booster meal’. If you prefer to bring your meal from home, we can provide a BOOST to your home lunch at no charge to you. Take 3 and it’s free.
I love this too! However, it would be nice if the menus actually matched what they are served. My kiddos pick their lunch entree and then ends up to be totally different, almost daily. This causes pressure and unwanted stress for kiddos all around. Yes, we all can bring our own "entree's?!", If we have the financial means to do it. Boosters are an amazing idea, just make sure they are kid friendly.
Way to go Food and Nutrition for always finding innovative ways to make sure our kids have full bellies and are ready to learn! Y’all rock and I’m thankful for every last employee.
I like this for the kiddos that want/need it. There have been a couple times my kid wanted milk from school for lunch and got these but it was wasted they didn't give him the choice for just milk. Like it but also a huge waste if that's how all schools are doing it. Let the kid decide!!!
Awesome! Do the kids have to ask for a booster meal?
This week we celebrate National School Lunch Week. We are "Wild about school lunch" and WILD about FREE Meals! We want to remind you to join us in the cafeteria!

October is National Principals Month, and we recognize the essential work that our principals put in each day to make a school a wonderful place.
Linda Reysack has been a K-12 administrator for 31 years, 12 of those with CRCSD. As a former Harding Charger, she is proud to be the principal of Harding Middle School.
Mrs. Reysack says the people around her are the keys to success: "It is the relationships I have developed with the staff, students, and families that makes this the best job."
Thank you and all of our administrators for your hard work and dedication.
Cedar River Academy at Taylor Elementary students received a lesson on planting and caring for trees last week from the Girl Scouts.
The academy planted six trees to make up for those lost in the 2020 derecho. Girl Scout leaders demonstrated how to plant the trees, and students got their hands dirty participating.
CRCSD Kindergarten students are studying the Monarch Butterfly. Over the past several weeks, students have watched the metamorphosis to the chrysalis and finally a butterfly. In late August, classrooms received eggs, milkweed, and a cage.
This week, the kindergartners waved goodbye to their projects as around 300 mature butterflies were released and flew off.
Today we are celebrating National Custodian Recognition Day! A big thank you to all the CRCSD custodians that maintain our buildings providing a clean, safe, and secure environment for our students and staff.
Randy Peacock is one of our dedicated staff. As a Custodian II, he works evenings and floats around to whatever building he is needed.
"I like this job because I get to meet and work with new people all of the time…the kids are fun, especially the little ones."
Thank you, Randy, and all of our Custodians and Engineers.
Thank you! I shudder to think about all of the work that goes into your jobs and how different the schools would be without you. Your hard work definitely deserves this day of recognition!! <3 You are appreciated by parents, too!!
Thank you and thank you to all the custodial staff. Know they work hard to keep the buildings clean and safe.
Thank you for keeping CR schools beautiful and safe!
Thank you all so much for all you do for our schools!
Thank you Randy & all the custodians for all your hard work 🙌🙌

“Why would the school keep doing this? So I decided to follow the money.”
“You put us in a corner, and you are getting paid to mask our children!”
“Who got the money and what did you do with it?”
“Why would this school keep doing this? Completely against the Nuremberg code?”
“You are violating the US Constitution of the United States!”
“I'd rather see this school in ashes than to see you sit there with your pockets full while you suffocate our children with diapers on their faces!”
“We the people have had enough!”
